Rotterdam

Ceremonial glass to make a toast to the city of Rotterdam.

Wineglass with rounded funnel shaped bowl. Stem with a three ringed knob with on both sides a round knop. Beneath this an inverted baluster with an air bubble, and a basal knob.

On the bowl a very fine wheelengraving of the crowned coat of arms of Rotterdam, held by two lions. The engraving is clearly by the same 'Rotterdam'-hand, the so-called engraver of "Het Vingerhoedsglas".

Leadglass with Dutch engraving,

Second quarter eighteenth century.

Height: 18,8 cm

Small chip to foot rim.
